The backround of the story takes place in china, present day. The story is about a girl who's mother wants her to become a child prodigy. Her mother has high expectations for her daughter. The girl tries many things to see what she is good at. But none of them work. Finally her mother makes a deal with a retired piano teacher who gives her daughter piano lessons. She plays the piano for weeks and practices everyday from 4-6. After practicing for a while, her mother signs her up for a talent show. When she starts to play at the talent show, she starts out great. But after the first few bars, she starts hitting wrong notes. When she is finished they go home disappointed. The next few days her mother doesn't talk to her or anybody. When the next day comes, her and her mother have a fight. After the fight, the mother never bothers her about piano again. A long time passes and she reaches her 30th birthday. Her mother asks if she wants the piano. She says yes and gets it tuned. After that her mother dies and she gets ready for her father to. She finally plays the piano again for the first time in years and it comes back to her pretty easily.
